About Beth Meece, RN IBCLC
My Goal:
I want my practice to revolve around the mammas. I know we breastfeed to give our babies this nutritious, amazing first food. And for all of us it looks different. You could be a pumping mom, breastfeeding mom, or a combo of both. I want to support you on this journey. Bring an expert's perspective and a watchful eye to see things that have changed since the hospital.
I am your cheerleader. I will guide you on what helps increase/decrease your milk supply, helps your baby latch better, and what helps manage your stress level. We will develop a plan for feeding together. I’m hoping to bring joy and enjoyability to this stressful period of life.
With little to no sleep you are expected to take on this challenge. The challenge of a very new and daunting task of taking care of another human. Breastfeeding can be instinctual, and beautiful, but not always easy.
My history:
I’ve spent my entire nursing career helping babies. After receiving my nursing degree, I began working at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and spent 12 years in a number of positions including the medical/surgical unit, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and emergency room. Following those experiences, and after having babies of my own, I realized that my passion lies within the area of helping moms and babies through the challenges of breastfeeding. I transitioned to focus solely on lactation and have been an IBCLC-certified nurse for the last 15 years. I now have partnered with the North Shore Wellness Collaborative.
As I reflect upon the remarkable journey that has brought me to this point I am filled with a sense of gratitude and excitement. To be partnered with the North Shore Wellness Collaborative and to be working with mom’s and their new babies. The hospital visit is short. Your milk is still not in and the positions for breastfeeding may not be comfortable after giving birth. The one to two days you get help at the hospital are typically not enough.
Getting help with breast feedings when your back home is more relaxed and tailored to you and your baby.
